All profits from the golf tournament and sale of tickets to the international go the Toks Akpata Funds at the UNB Alumni Office. In 10 years over $45,000 has been raised and in 2008 a $1,500 scholarship in Toks name was awarded to William Harris of the UNB Ironmen.

Good evening lads,

I have attached the recent newsletter for the upcoming Ironmen Reunion. Many of you have already registered and are in my data bank. However we need funds sent in as soon as possible . You will find in the newsletter a simple option for payment ..Which is going to the UNB Alumni web link and it can all be done quickly via visa, mastercard, etc…Hopefully, that simplifies things. I would ask that each of you try to forward this e-mail to any and all Ironmen Alumni you are connected with…Although we try to get the word out it can be a challenge reaching so many…There is an upcoming advertisement in the Alumni news which as you all know goes to each and every Alumni of UNB worldwide..Who knows we may find Brian Conheady!

You can also register for the Golf day on line if you like (same link) . Things are looking good and we are excited. It is an additionally interesting reunion for me as my son Sean is playing with the current Ironmen and is really pumped for the reunion…I live vicariously through my child ! Like his father he is exceptionally fit and comitted to training daily………….

UNB Ironmen Rugby Reunion 2008

October 10 th through 12th

Schedule of events

Friday, October 10^th: Golf Day at the Mactaquac Golf Course ( registration is separate from the reunion package. Details to follow). A meet and greet will be hosted that evening by the current Ironmen.

Saturday, October 11^th : Rugby action all day.  Current Ironmen A and B side will be playing a touring side from Bishops University.  The Ironmen “selects” made up of former players will be playing the Fredericton Loyalists .  A banquet will be held with a dance at the same location. Downtown Blues Band supplying the entertainment

Sunday, October 12^th Rugby Action. The UNB “Old Boys” over 40 squad will be playing the Fredericton Loyalist Old Boys in a friendly match . A social and BBQ will follow.

Important Details:

Registration: Download the registration form here. It is a preliminary form and will help us for planning purposes. Cost of registration for this year will be $125.00 per person. This is for the whole reunion package and includes:

• A reunion golf shirt
• The banquet and dance
• Access to all related functions and games

Registration for the golf day will be separate.  Additional tickets to the banquet for spouses or significant other will be $40 per person.

Accommodations: We will be booking a block of  rooms at local hotels for the event. Information on available hotels and costs will be sent out with the full registration package

Other information:  The Fredericton Exiles and UNB women’s rugby alumni are also hosting reunions on this weekend and they will be participating in many of the activities.  We have lined up a guest speaker from Rugby Canada for the Banquet…..and we invited Rick Mercer to play in the Old Boys game.

IMPORTANT! Send in the attached preliminary registration form. It is important that we get a sense of numbers and those planning to attend. Many more e-mails and details will follow

It is important that you let us know if you plan to attend as we are trying to pull together the program and activities based on numbers.  There will be three “newsletters ” sent out in advance of the reunion updating former players on our progress and including lists of “who “has registered to date.
